The future of quantum technologies with the participation of Poles
An international consortium of organizations from six countries has developed a recommendation for the first quantum protocol standards and submitted them today to the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), a specialized UN agency for standardization and regulation of the telecommunications market. Among the fourteen organizations that have developed new communication norms is a team from the Quantum Technologies Research Group from the Institute of Theoretical Physics at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Warsaw, led by Dr. hab. Magdalena Stobinska.
Quantum technologies could find applications in securing information transmitted on the Internet (quantum key distribution), generating random numbers (quantum random generators), constructing highly sensitive biological and chemical probes (quantum detection) and microscopyow with increased resolution (quantum metrology).
The result of the work of the consortium, whichorym led by the Washington-based Hudson Institute, there are two recommendations, regarding quantum sources ofoThe sources of entropy (randomness) and the system ofoIn the quantum distribution of the key. International Telecommunications Union, whichorego, of which Poland has been a member since 1921, will now deal with the preparation and worldwide dissemination of new standardow.
Advances in quantum technology are made possible by the development and miniaturization of componentoin the systemoin the quantum, whichory has made in recent years, starting what is known as the “new” research in the Department of Nuclear Medicine. „second quantum revolution” and bringing closer the era of widespread solutions based on them. In its face, it is necessary to prepare an international standardow, whichore will determine the coolne principles of using quantum technologies in science and industry.
